Acting Director

Jonathan Chang

Jonathan is also the Executive Director of Lien Centre for Social Innovation at Singapore Management University (SMU). He pioneered Ashoka Changemaker Campus recognition for SMU – the first university in Asia to be accredited. Jonathan founded and co-founded four startups in Silicon Valley and Manhattan, and has mentored and invested in social enterprises in Southeast Asia.

His passion for social entrepreneurship and impact investing brought him to Rwanda, England, New Zealand, India, and Indonesia, and he has written papers and case studies for Harvard, Stanford, Columbia, and SMU. Jonathan also gave a TEDx talk at Harvard about the importance of a mission-driven life, and has travelled extensively to speak on – and support – social innovation initiatives. Jonathan is a graduate of UC Berkeley, Stanford Graduate School of Business, and Harvard Kennedy School of Government. He was a Fellow at Columbia’s Earth Institute, a Digital Problem Solving Initiative Fellow at Harvard Law School, and received Stanford’s Miller Social Change Leadership Award.

Malminderjit Singh

Malminder is the Director of The Birthday Collective and the Editor of The Birthday Book 2016 and co-editor of the 2017 edition. He has more than 12 years of work experience across diverse fields and industries including in communications, journalism, government service, management and research. His previous roles include being the Associate Director of Communications and Public Affairs at The HEAD Foundation, the CEO of the Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a Correspondent with The Business Times and as Assistant Director (Trade Division) at the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

He has done adjunct academic work at the Singapore University of Social Sciences, and consulted other think-tanks and multinational companies in the areas of thought leadership, communications and public policy. Malminder has also been a speech writer to public and private sector leaders. Malminder has been active in public service, especially in the area of youth development. He currently serves as the President of the Young Sikh Association (Singapore), and has played key roles in other national bodies and non-profit organizations. He holds an Honours degree in Economics from the University of Buckingham in the UK and a Masters in International Political Economy from RSIS at the Nanyang Technological University. Above all, Malminder’s greatest fulfilment comes from his role as a father of three young children, including a pair of twins born this year.



Administration Manager

Angela Lim

Angela joined SMU in 2006 and has over 11 years of experience in finance, operations, events management and office administration, holding various positions with different offices at the university. In recognition of her outstanding performance, Angela received the Efficiency Medal award during the 2016 National Day Awards, given to individuals to recognise their commitment and the impact that they have made to Singapore’s tertiary education sector.

Angela holds a second class upper in Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Business and Marketing from University of Wales.





Manager, Content & Media

Azlinda Said

Azlinda has almost two decades of experience in news and lifestyle journalism, ranging from broadcast to print and digital, as well as client servicing. Azlinda's work has taken her to various places and led her to meet and interact with people from all walks of life – politicians, artistes, healthcare practitioners, chefs, life coaches and your average Joes. She has worked on several book projects, both with private publishers and government agencies like MCCY, and is not fazed by tight deadlines and a pressure-cooker environment.

Azlinda also has experience in public relations and events management, and her latest foray into social media marketing and strategy will hopefully turn her into an (almost) all-rounder comms expert.




Assistant Manager, Media & Programmes

Azmi Danuri

Azmi’s decade-long experience in photography and videography has let him on a merry journey of eye-opening experiences, from shooting wedding videos to food and fashion ones. His displayed artistry on a short "mockumentary" on the life of a musician won him a Best Editing prize in the 48-hour Film Project competition in 2009. A year later, he produced a series of educational videos for the Health Promotion Board, all of which are still being screened in public hospitals across Singapore.

Azmi is a huge Star Wars fan, and is the founder and current head of FightSaber, a worldwide Star Wars costuming group that conducts lightsaber performances. The group also regularly volunteers its time with charities and welfare organisations such as Beyond Social Services and Singapore Cancer Society.




Program and Research Associate

Anjhana Damodaran

Anjhana Damodaran is the Program and Research Associate at ISL. She assists with research for the Lien Centre for Social Innovation. She also administers and manages the programmes of ISL such as the Singapore Summit Young Societal Leaders Programme. Anjhana graduated with BSc (Honours) in International Relations from the University of London, SIM Global Education. She has had stints with the Career Connect, SIM Global Education as a Senior Team Leader of the Research and Editorial Department. She has also written articles for the Global Edge Magazine, SIM Global Education and was featured as an SIM Achiever herself.

Anjhana spends her time volunteering actively with organisations including, UN Women Singapore, the Food Bank Singapore and Youth Corps Singapore. She is also a recipient of the Promising Entrepreneur Award when she led a fundraising initiative for Very Special Arts Singapore through Citi-YMCA Youth for Causes. She is currently an aspirant in the Youth Corps Leaders Programme and hopes to make a positive difference in society through her experiences.
